Tanzanian Delegation Praises Ethiopia’s Historical Preservation, Tech Integration
Addis Ababa, November 3, 2026 (ENA)— Members of a visiting Tanzanian delegation have lauded Ethiopia’s systematic documentation of its heritage, calling its use of modern technology to preserve and display historical records a model for educating future generations.
The delegation, who have been in Ethiopia for a three-day experience-sharing visit with capital market institutions, visited Unity Park and the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum to explore the country’s rich history, culture, and preservation initiatives.
Martin W. Kolikoli, one of the visiting delegates, said he was particularly impressed by Ethiopia’s systematic documentation of historical events across different periods, which enables visitors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the country's historical evolution.
Speaking after visiting Unity Park in Addis Ababa, Kolikoli commended the presentation of historical accounts through modern technology and digital platforms, describing the approach as an effective way of preserving heritage and making historical information accessible to the public.
He said the presentation enabled visitors to develop a deeper appreciation of Ethiopia’s past, adding that the experience made him feel as though he was witnessing historical events firsthand.
Kolikoli noted that Ethiopia’s experience offered valuable lessons for Tanzania, particularly in documenting historical developments systematically and applying science and technology to preserve national heritage.
He also highlighted the educational value of digital platforms in enhancing visitors’ understanding of historical sites, suggesting that other African countries could draw lessons from Ethiopia’s approach.
Another visiting delegate, Eliad E. Mndeme, said his visit to the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum had broadened his understanding of Ethiopia’s history, particularly the circumstances surrounding the historic Battle of Adwa.
Although he had previously learned about Ethiopia’s victory over Italian forces, Mndeme said visiting the museum provided a clearer understanding of the historical events and the courage and determination demonstrated by Ethiopians in defending their sovereignty.
He particularly praised the museum’s efforts to preserve and present the country's historical heritage, noting that its modern facilities and comprehensive documentation provide an important educational resource for younger generations.
Mndeme emphasized that preserving historical heritage should go beyond commemorating past events, serving instead as a means of educating young people about the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations while inspiring them to shape their country's future.
He also encouraged young people to visit historical institutions such as the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum to gain a better understanding of their history and draw lessons from the experiences of their forefathers.
The Tanzanian visitors underscored the importance of documenting, preserving and presenting historical heritage through modern technologies, noting that such efforts help ensure that the experiences and contributions of previous generations remain accessible to future generations.
