PM Abiy’s Medemer Book Launched in Russian, Expanding Ethiopia’s Intellectual Reach
Addis Ababa, October 28, 2026 (ENA)— Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s book Medemer has been launched in its Russian translation in Moscow, marking a new chapter in the international reach of the Ethiopian philosophy rooted in indigenous knowledge.
Prime Minister Abiy, who attended the launch, expressed pride in the milestone.
In a social media post, the Premier described the launch as evidence that Medemer has crossed national borders and is gaining a wider international audience.
He noted that the book, already translated into English, Chinese, and Arabic, has now reached the Russian-speaking world, further expanding its global reach and creating new opportunities for intellectual and cultural exchange.
The Prime Minister further elaborated that the growing international presence of Medemer demonstrates Ethiopia’s contribution to global discourse through ideas drawn from its own intellectual traditions and indigenous knowledge.
He also highlighted the significance of the Russian translation as a reciprocal exchange of knowledge, noting that Russia has long influenced Ethiopian scholars and intellectual life.
Prime Minister Abiy expressed appreciation to the leadership and media professionals at Russia Today (RT) for their commitment to the project, saying the initiative would help build a stronger cultural and intellectual bridge between Ethiopia and Russia.
The launch comes as the Prime Minister visits Moscow to attend the Third Russia–Africa Summit, which brings together African and Russian leaders and high-level delegations to advance political dialogue, economic cooperation, and strategic partnerships.
The Russian edition of Medemer is highly anticipated to add an intellectual and cultural dimension to Ethiopia–Russia relations, extending engagement beyond traditional diplomatic and economic ties and introducing a wider audience to an Ethiopian philosophy of synergy and collective progress.
