12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa Kicks Off

Addis Ababa, October 24, 2026 (ENA) —The 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa has officially commenced in Bahir Dar under the theme “Pathways to Peace in Africa: Economic Sovereignty and Geopolitical Transformation,” bringing together African leaders and key stakeholders to deliberate on the continent’s peace, security, economic sovereignty, and evolving role in a changing global order.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed welcomed various African leaders ahead of the forum’s opening and held bilateral talks with them on strengthening cooperation and advancing matters of shared interest.

The forum is taking place at a critical juncture, as the interplay between political stability, economic sovereignty, and global power competition increasingly shapes Africa’s future.

It has brought together heads of state, political leaders, policymakers, researchers, and security experts to explore ways to strengthen continental cooperation and translate shared priorities into practical action.
