PM Abiy and Ghanaian President Visit Fasil Castle, Gondar Mesob Center

Addis Ababa, October 23, 2026 (ENA) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama visited Fasil Castle and the Gondar Mesob One-Stop Service Center today during their project inauguration engagements in Gondar, Amhara Regional State.

The visits followed the inauguration of the Megech Dam Project by PM Abiy, which is anticipated to expand irrigation-based agriculture, strengthen food security, and improve access to drinking water in Gondar and surrounding areas.

Accompanied by First Lady Zinash Tayachew and other senior officials, the two leaders visited the historic castle and the service center, which reflects Ethiopia’s efforts to improve public service delivery.

Fasil Castle, part of the Fasil Ghebbi complex, reflects Gondar’s historic role as Ethiopia’s imperial capital.

UNESCO inscribed the complex on its World Heritage List in 1979 in recognition of its historical and architectural significance.

Similarly, they also visited the Gondar Mesob One-Stop Service Center.

The Gondar Mesob One-Stop Service Center integrates services from multiple government institutions on a single platform, aiming to improve public access to government services and streamline service delivery.
