Prime Minister Abiy Holds Phone Talks with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio

Addis Ababa, October 14, 2026 (ENA) —Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said he held a fruitful telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on key bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

“Our discussion is proof of the commitment of both countries to translating the enduring relationship between Ethiopia and the United States into a more strategic and practical partnership,” the Prime Minister wrote on social media channels.

He welcomed Washington’s assurance of continued support for Ethiopia, reaffirming the two countries’ shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and multilateral priorities.

“I welcome the assurance of continued U.S. support for Ethiopia and our shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and multilateral priorities,” the Premier underscored.
