Second Round Humanitarian Aid Dispatched to Climate-Affected Communities in Afar,  Commission Announes

Addis Ababa, October 14, 2026 (ENA) — The Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC) has announced that it has launched its second round of humanitarian assistance for communities hit hard by climate-related shocks in the Afar Region. 

Relief supplies loaded from the central reserve warehouses in Adama are currently enroute to support vulnerable households facing severe moisture stress, drought, and seasonal flooding risks in the region.

Trucks carrying emergency relief supplies departed today from the central grain storage warehouse in Adama, heading toward affected areas across the region.

According to the commission, the assistance aims to support the most vulnerable communities as the regional government continues mobilizing local resources to address the crisis.

Reaffirming its commitment to supporting affected populations, the commission emphasized its ongoing efforts to strengthen the country's capacity to respond to both natural and human-induced disasters. 

The commission also assured the public that measures are in place to ensure relief supplies reach their intended beneficiaries efficiently.

This release follows an initial round of humanitarian assistance transported to several areas of the Afar Region a few days ago, according to EDRMC.
