PM Abiy Confers with Indian External Affairs Minister, Explores New Strategic Partnerships

Addis Ababa, October 9, 2026 (ENA)—Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held talks with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and his delegation to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding strategic cooperation between Ethiopia and India.

The discussions reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between the two countries and underscored their shared interest in deepening cooperation across areas of mutual interest, PM Abiy said in a social media post.

The Prime Minister added that efforts to strengthen bilateral ties build on his recent visit to India and his engagements with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting continued high-level engagement between the two countries.

The meeting highlights Ethiopia and India’s commitment to building on their longstanding relations, expanding strategic partnerships, and advancing cooperation for mutual benefit, it was learned.
