Humanitarian Aid Mobilized for Communities Affected by Climate-induced Impacts
Addis Ababa, October 9, 2026 (ENA)— The Ethiopian government is deploying emergency humanitarian assistance to communities affected by climate-induced disasters, drawing on its own resources to provide urgent relief to people in need, the Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission announced.
Relief supplies were dispatched from the central grain reserve warehouse in Adama city today.
The supplies are being transported to designated priority areas across the country to support communities facing urgent humanitarian needs, ENA learned.
The Commission said the federal government is reinforcing its emergency response operations to ensure timely assistance reaches affected populations, while regional states continue mobilizing their own resources to address both natural and human-induced disasters.
Under the coordinated response, the Commission is providing additional support to areas identified as high priority, with relief distribution focused on people requiring immediate assistance.
It is also working closely with relevant federal institutions to strengthen coordination, monitor evolving humanitarian needs, and support regional authorities in delivering relief to affected communities.
The latest operation underscores the government's efforts to strengthen domestic disaster-response capacity and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian assistance as climate-related shocks and other emergencies place pressure on vulnerable communities.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining emergency support and improving coordination among federal and regional authorities to ensure that assistance reaches those most in need.
