Ethiopia, India Seek to Deepen Strategic Ties Across Key Sectors

Addis Ababa, October 9, 2026 (ENA)— Ethiopia and India have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on expanding cooperation in education, culture, trade, investment, and digitalization.

Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, held talks with India’s External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, at his office in Addis Ababa today, exploring ways to broaden cooperation and advance the longstanding partnership between the two countries.


 

The discussions underscored the importance of deepening multifaceted ties and unlocking new opportunities for collaboration in key sectors that support economic growth, technological advancement, and people-to-people relations.

During the meeting, Jaishankar expressed appreciation for Ethiopia’s active participation in the recent BRICS Summit hosted by India, highlighting the importance of continued engagement between the two countries within multilateral platforms.


 

The talks reflect the shared interest of Ethiopia and India in building on their longstanding relations and translating bilateral cooperation into tangible benefits for their peoples, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
