Gov't Taking Robust, Coordinated Initiatives to Ensure Ethiopia's Growth, Prosperity: President 

Addis Ababa, October 6, 2026 (ENA)— The Government of Ethiopia is mobilizing all its efforts to ensure the country’s growth and prosperity by undertaking robust and coordinated initiatives, President Taye Atske Selassie said.

Addressing the joint session of the House of People’s Representatives and the House of Federation today, he noted that the government is carrying out activities that accelerate the nation’s growth and prosperity.
 
Emphasizing the need for safeguarding Ethiopia’s long-term national interests, the President added that bold and enduring strategic frameworks are being carried out in this regard.

The President noted that Ethiopia's national interests are protected not only by vigorously implementing the priorities set, but also by thinking ahead, and by possessing the unwavering determination to elevate the country through bold strategic visions that transcend time and eras.

The recent milestones were recorded by organizing national potential to protect sovereignty while actively fostering regional cooperation and international partnerships, he added.
 

Among the core achievements were the modernization of Ethiopia's political space, the institutionalization of calm and composed politics, and the successful formulation of an engagement strategy that has substantially broadened the nation's partnerships.

Pointing at the national dialogue as a cornerstone achievement, President Taye said the process successfully weaves together social values and establishes multi-national unity on a firm foundation of ideas, accountability, and political composure.

Furthermore, the President reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to peace, citing the active willingness to negotiate with opposing entities as a testament to a profound desire for stability—an approach that has gained wide acknowledgment from regional and international partners.

The steps being taken by the government to modernize Ethiopia’s political practices are among the notable achievements in this regard, he stated.

On the diplomatic and economic fronts, President Taye said foundational groundwork has been successfully laid to secure reliable sea access through mutual benefit and diplomatic dialogue, underscoring Ethiopia's positive aspiration to grow and prosper alongside its neighbors.
