PM Abiy Presides Over Handover of Ethiopia’s National Dialogue Recommendations

Addis Ababa, October 3, 2026 (ENA)—Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced that the consolidated agenda items and recommendations that emerged from Ethiopia’s National Dialogue have been formally handed over to the House of People’s Representatives, the Federal Government, and Regional Governments.

“I attended and oversaw the formal handover,” the Prime Minister shared on social media channels today, describing the development as an important milestone in the country’s National Dialogue process.

The handover marks a transition from national deliberation to the institutional consideration of recommendations emerging from the dialogue, which brought together participants from diverse sections of Ethiopian society.

The National Dialogue reached consensus across its eight thematic pillars before moving into the harmonization and consolidation of recommendations.

The process was designed to bring together differing perspectives on major national issues and build areas of common understanding.

Prime Minister Abiy said the latest step reaffirms the commitment to addressing Ethiopia’s longstanding challenges through inclusive dialogue, peaceful deliberation and nationally owned solutions.

The National Dialogue has been presented as an effort to address deep-rooted national questions through consensus-building rather than confrontation.

Earlier, the Premier described the process as an opportunity to address longstanding political challenges and help forge a new, inclusive national social contract.

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference concluded in August after 40 days of deliberations involving 4,000 participants, with discussions covering various issues.
