PM Advisor Stresses Need for Revitalization of Global Partnerships

Addis Ababa, September 26, 2026 (ENA) —Stronger partnerships, shared solutions and renewed commitment are essential to accelerate progress toward the 2030 Agenda, East African Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister, Getachew Reda said.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a global development framework adopted by all UN Member States in 2015.

At the Global Development Initiative (GDI) High-Level Dialogue held on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Getachew underscored the critical importance of revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development, stressing the need to translate shared commitments into tangible development outcomes.

 

The Adviser highlighted that the GDI as a practical, results-oriented partnership that can help accelerate implementation of the SDGs and advance development priorities.

He also emphasized the importance of prioritizing key transitions with catalytic and multiplier effects across the SDGs, particularly in poverty eradication, energy, food systems, finance, digital transformation, education and climate action.

 

Getachew further stressed the importance of drawing on the comparative advantages, experiences and successes of country-led initiatives, strengthening cooperation and learning from solutions that are delivering results on the ground.
