Ethiopia, Djibouti Launch Strategic Infrastructure Project 

Addis Ababa, September 24, 2026 (ENA) — A strategic infrastructure project aimed at further strengthening economic ties and cooperation between Ethiopia and Djibouti was officially announced today in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The project connecting Damerjog in Djibouti to Dewele in Ethiopia through a new refined petroleum products pipeline is supported by storage terminals at both ends.

In  his  social media  post, Prime Minister Abiy  wrote: ''Together with President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Aliko Dangote, we announce today a major strategic investment connecting Damerjog in Djibouti to Dewele in Ethiopia through a new refined petroleum products pipeline, supported by storage terminals at both ends.''
 

The project will be developed through a partnership between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and the Dangote Group, he added.
 
This landmark infrastructure will reduce logistics costs and delays, strengthen energy security, and enhance the efficiency and resilience of the Ethiopia–Djibouti corridor, the PM noted.
 

Prime Minister Abiy said further more than a pipeline, this is an investment in future growth, regional integration and a more secure shared economic future—with African investment at its center.
