BRICS Can Turn Cooperation into Shared Value, Resilience and Sustainable Growth, Says PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, September 12, 2026 (ENA) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said Ethiopia is ready to forge stronger partnerships within BRICS by leveraging the bloc’s capital, technology and markets to create greater value from the resources and opportunities available across member countries.

Prime Minister Abiy made the remarks as he participated in the 18th BRICS Summit in India, held under the theme of building resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability.

“Across BRICS, we have capital, technology and markets. The opportunity is to bring them together, create more value, and ensure that value is generated where resources are found,” the Prime Minister shared on social media channels.

He highlighted Ethiopia’s readiness to expand partnerships in minerals, renewable energy and its growing industrial base.

PM Abiy further underscored the country’s ambition to translate its natural and economic potential into sustainable development and shared prosperity.

Prime Minister Abiy also called for greater resilience in global systems, stressing the need to ensure that artificial intelligence serves Africa’s development priorities, advance predictable debt resolution, and connect climate action with broader economic transformation.

“Together, BRICS can turn cooperation into shared value, resilience and sustainable growth,” he said.
