Diplomats from Various Countries Wish Ethiopians Peace, Prosperity in New Year
(September 10, 2026, Addis Ababa) —Diplomats from various countries in Ethiopia have extended warm New Year greetings to the Ethiopian people, expressing hopes for peace, prosperity, good health and stronger bilateral relations in the year ahead.
The diplomats conveyed their wishes as Ethiopia prepares to welcome the New Year, highlighting the importance of peace, cooperation and continued friendship between Ethiopia and their respective countries.
The messages came as Ethiopia welcomed the New Year, a major cultural occasion marked by celebrations, family gatherings and expressions of hope for a peaceful and prosperous future.

UAE Ambassador to Ethiopia Abdalla Hassan Alshamsi wished Ethiopians peace, love and prosperity, describing the Ethiopia UAE relationship as a “strong and distinguished strategic partnership” built on friendship, mutual respect and shared interests.
Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates have expanded cooperation in recent years across investment, trade, development, tourism and other areas of mutual interest, providing a broader foundation for their growing bilateral partnership.
Similarly, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Ethiopia Nirmala Indumathie Dias Paranavitana highlighted the shared spirit of renewal, family, friendship and hope reflected in the New Year traditions of Ethiopia and Sri Lanka. She said such shared values can build bridges between peoples and nations.

Yemen’s Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Abdelkader Mohammed Hadi on his part wished Ethiopians success and prosperity, noting the longstanding relations and common interests between Ethiopia and Yemen.
Malaysia’s Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Mohd Afandi Abu Bakar wished the Ethiopian government and people prosperity, good health and wellbeing, while highlighting opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation and people to people ties.
Ethiopia and Malaysia have continued to maintain diplomatic engagement, with opportunities for expanded cooperation in trade, investment, education, technology and other sectors offering potential for stronger ties.
