PM Abiy Inaugurates Modern Mojo Logistics Center Expansion
(September 10, 2026, Addis Ababa) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said the inauguration of the first phase of the modern logistics center expansion in Mojo marks a major step in Ethiopia’s efforts to strengthen its logistics capacity and advance the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Prime Minister said the 60-hectare logistics hub will play a significant role in facilitating trade for Ethiopia and the continent.
Equipped with terminals and warehouses capable of handling up to one million 20-foot containers annually, the center will enable dry bulk cargo to be packaged domestically, helping save foreign currency and create broad employment opportunities for Ethiopians, he noted.
According to the Prime Minister, the efficiency of the logistics center is supported by the country’s first-ever Rail-Mounted Gantry crane, which facilitates the rapid transfer of containers from the railway line.
Built on a fully digital infrastructure, the center is expected to provide fast and reliable logistics services, he said.
Beyond the Ethio-Djibouti railway line, the Prime Minister noted that the facility forms part of the DESSU Corridor, linking Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Uganda.
He said the development represents an important milestone in strengthening Ethiopia’s position in the global logistics sector and opening a new chapter for regional economic integration.
