Ethiopia’s National Dialogue Reaches Consensus across All Eight Agenda Pillars
Addis Ababa, August 13, 2026 (ENA) —The National Dialogue has reached a major milestone, with participants achieving consensus across all eight thematic agenda pillars, the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) announced today.
The Commission said participants deliberating on the remaining agenda pillars reached agreement on the issues under discussion, completing the consensus-building process across the entire national dialogue agenda.
Two days earlier, the ENDC had announced that participants reached consensus on four key pillars: peacebuilding, religious affairs, corruption and good governance, and government structure and the political system.
According to the Commission, participants have now also reached agreement on the remaining four top pillars including nation-building, federal cities affairs, institution-building, rule of law and human rights, and socio-economic issues affecting farmers and pastoralists.
The National Dialogue has been conducted through thematic working groups, bringing together representatives from diverse sections of Ethiopian society to deliberate on issues identified as requiring broad national consensus.
The process has focused on fostering dialogue, identifying areas of common understanding, and building agreement on issues of national importance.
The consensus reached across the agenda pillars is anticipated to provide an important foundation for the next stages of the national dialogue process aimed at strengthening national cohesion, institutional development, and a shared vision for Ethiopia’s future.
