Nat’l Dialogue Process Near Completion   

Addis Ababa, August 13 2026 (ENA) — The ongoing Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference is progressing well, National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) Deputy Chief Commissioner Hirut Gebre Sellasie said.

Briefing the press today, the Deputy Chief Commissioner noted that the process is moving as expected and in accordance with the plan of the National Dialogue Commission.

At this stage, “most of the groups of 500 delegates that deliberated separately have reached agreement; and are concluding the discussions by putting their signatures on the respective recommendations, she said.

After resolving disagreements, the groups have arrived at a consensus, agreeing on most issues, with all eight groups currently wrapping up their work, the Deputy Chief Commissioner revealed.

According to her, a team has been established to harmonize the recommendations prepared by the eight dialogue groups.

The team’s mandate is to summarize and consolidate the recommendations into single, unified proposal. 

Complaints raised by certain individuals, groups, or political parties are being studied, with decisions to be made in line with the commission’s grievance-handling procedure, Hirut stated.

She added that the complaints being reviewed and the commission will pass decisions.

The commission will announce the outcome of the dialogue to the Ethiopian public in the next phase, the Deputy Chief Commissioner said, noting that three fourth of the overall task is nearing completion.
