Brigade N’Hamedu Denounces ‘Tsimdo’, Warns of Risks to Regional Stability

Addis Ababa, August 7, 2026 (ENA) —The Eritrean Blue Revolution Front (EBRF), widely known as Brigade N’Hamedu, has denounced the faction calling itself “Tsimdo,” warning that the alliance poses a serious threat to peace and security in the Horn of Africa.

The Front issued the statement outlining its peaceful resistance efforts, political vision, and strategy for regional cooperation.

Beyene Gerezgiher, Head of Political and Diplomatic Affairs for the EBRF, emphasized that the movement is a diaspora-led initiative dedicated to securing fundamental political reform in Eritrea.

He noted that the EBRF has successfully mobilized Eritrean communities abroad while bolstering internal demands for reform, proving that meaningful political transformation is achievable.

Addressing the faction known as “Tsimdo,” Beyene asserted that the group represents neither Eritrean nor Tigrayan interests.

He warned that its warmongering activities risk destabilizing the wider region and urged all parties to withhold support and cooperation from the group.

Dawit Yibrah, Chairman of the EBRF Task Force, reiterated that the movement arose directly from popular demand to dismantle authoritarian rule in Eritrea.

“The Eritrean people cannot continue to endure an oppressive regime; we have initiated a movement to deliver genuine, popular change,” Dawit said.

He highlighted that democratic reform in Eritrea is vital for fostering peaceful, enduring relations with Ethiopia and neighboring states, paving the way for shared regional development.

Adding to the Front's vision, Dawit Teferi, a member of the EBRF diplomatic team, stated that they are actively working to forge socio-economic ties between the people of Eritrea and neighboring nations.

The EBRF reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing political change exclusively through peaceful engagement and democratic activism.

The Eritrean Blue Revolution Front (EBRF)—popularly known as Brigade N’Hamedu—is a prominent Eritrean diaspora opposition movement advocating for democratic reform and political participation against the ruling regime in Asmara.
