Foreign Minister Gedion Holds Bilateral Talks with Congolese, Angolan Counterparts

Addis Ababa, July 29, 2026 (ENA) — Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Congo and Angola and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation on continental issues.

The meetings focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and exchanging perspectives on key continental priorities.

In his meeting with Congo's Foreign Minister, Gedion explored strategic opportunities to expand collaboration into emerging fields, particularly artificial intelligence, alongside climate change mitigation and resilience.


During discussions with Angola's Foreign Minister, the two leaders addressed key bilateral and continental issues of mutual interest. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to elevating economic cooperation as a core pillar of their partnership.


Across both engagements, the foreign ministers emphasized the importance of closer alignment to reinforce the African Union’s institutional mechanisms and advance shared priorities for the continent.
