Foreign Minister Gedion Holds Bilateral Talks with Namibian, Botswanan Counterparts
Addis Ababa, July 29, 2026 (ENA) —Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos, on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council in Addis Ababa, held separate bilateral discussions with Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, and Botswana’s Minister of International Relations, Phenyo Butale.
During his meeting with his Namibian counterpart, the two ministers discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Namibia.
They particularly discussed ways of expanding cooperation in the air transport and leather industry sectors.
In his discussion with the Botswanan Foreign Minister, the two sides explored opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation, with Botswana expressing interest in benefiting from Ethiopia’s experiences in green development, infrastructure expansion, and urban corridor development.
The ministers also exchanged views on bilateral, regional, and continental issues of mutual interest.
Th two foreign ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and partnership within the framework of Africa’s shared development aspirations.
