Ethiopia Launches Africa-Wide Tourism Promotion Campaign in Kenya

Addis Ababa, July 24, 2026 (ENA) — Ethiopia has launched an Africa-wide tourism promotion campaign in Kenya, kicking off a continental initiative aimed at showcasing the country's diverse tourism attractions and strengthening people-to-people ties across Africa.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two-day promotional event in Nairobi is organized by the Embassy of Ethiopia in Kenya in collaboration with Kuriftu Resorts and Boston Partners PLC, Ethiopian Airlines, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The event marks the first stop of a broader campaign that will extend to ten African countries.

The ministry further emphasized that the initiative is intended to promote Ethiopia's rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and diverse tourist destinations while encouraging greater intra-African travel, tourism cooperation, and cultural exchange.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ethiopia's Ambassador to Kenya, General Bacha Debele, described Ethiopia as the cradle of humankind and highlighted the country's remarkable historical and cultural legacy, including its 18 UNESCO-recognized World Heritage sites.

Participants also received presentations on Ethiopia's expanding tourism industry and internationally acclaimed destinations, according to the ministry.

The event brought together government officials, business leaders, media professionals, and tour operators from Kenya.

As part of the program, participants will travel to Ethiopia on a familiarization tour to experience the country's tourism attractions firsthand.

The Ministry of Tourism said the campaign reflects Ethiopia's sustained efforts to position itself as one of Africa's leading tourism destinations while deepening tourism partnerships and strengthening people-to-people relations across the continent.
