IMF Commends Ethiopia’s Impressive Progress on Ambitious Economic Reform Program

Addis Ababa, May 11, 2026 —The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has commended Ethiopia for the impressive progress it is making in implementing its ambitious economic reform program.

According to IMF Africa, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said Ethiopia continues to achieve significant progress despite challenging global economic conditions.

“At a difficult time, Ethiopia is making impressive progress on an ambitious economic reform program,” she said.

Georgieva also reaffirmed the IMF’s strong support for Ethiopia’s ongoing reform efforts and its broader commitment to the country and the region.

“I reaffirmed the Fund’s strong support for that effort and overall commitment to Ethiopia and the region,” she noted.
