African Union Congratulates President Ismail Omar Guelleh on Re-election

Addis Ababa, April 11, 2026 (ENA) — The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has extended his warm congratulations to Ismail Omar Guelleh following his re-election as the President of the Republic of Djibouti.

In a statement released today, the Chairperson commended the people of Djibouti for their peaceful engagement in the electoral process, noting that the conduct of the election reflects a steadfast commitment to democratic governance, national stability, and the shared aspirations of the Horn of Africa region.

Youssouf took note of the official results announced by Djibouti’s electoral authority, which confirmed the outcome of the presidential election.

The Chairperson further acknowledged Djibouti’s vital role in advancing regional peace, security, and cooperation.
