Prime Minister Abiy Confers with UN Chief, Leaders of Mozambique and Tanzania

Addis Ababa, February 14, 2026 (ENA)—On the sidelines of the 39th Summit of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a series of high-level bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening multilateral and regional cooperation.

The Prime Minister met this morning with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres for a constructive exchange on shared multilateral priorities.

Their discussion focused on reinforcing cooperation between Ethiopia and the United Nations system, as well as advancing collective efforts to address pressing global and continental challenges.

In a separate bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Abiy conferred with President Daniel Chapo of tMozambique.

The two leaders explored opportunities to deepen collaboration across priority sectors, including urban development, agriculture, and peace and security, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing strategic ties between their countries.

The Prime Minister also held talks with President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania. Their discussions centered on advancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in key areas of mutual interest, further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and Tanzania.


These engagements underscore Ethiopia’s proactive diplomatic outreach during the AU Summit and reflect a shared resolve among African and global leaders to foster partnership, stability, and sustainable development.
