PM Abiy Underscores Urban Transformation Success Through Corridor Dev't Initiative

Addis Ababa, January 27, 2026 (ENA) - Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has highlighted the profound impact of the nationwide corridor development initiative, describing it as a reflection of the government’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and people-centered urban transformation.

In a statement shared via his social media channels, the Prime Minister noted that the project is a direct manifestation of the nation’s strategic development goals.

"The corridors development initiative reflects our commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and people-centred urban transformation as articulated in the Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda," he shared.

The Prime Minister further noted that the scope of this transformation extends far beyond the capital, influencing the urban fabric of various regional hubs across the country.

"Implemented across multiple cities beyond Addis Ababa, the initiative is improving urban mobility, revitalising public spaces, strengthening local economies, and enhancing environmental resilience," he stated.

According to the Prime Minister, the ultimate objective of these works is to foster a more integrated and prosperous national economy through modern urban planning.

"By connecting neighbourhoods and unlocking the economic and social potential of cities nationwide, our endeavour demonstrates a clear national vision: building liveable, competitive, and inclusive cities that support balanced development and shared prosperity across Ethiopia."
