Ethiopia and Vietnam Forge Stronger Economic Ties, Unlocking New Opportunities

Addis Ababa, December 12, 2025—Ethiopia and Vietnam are forging a path toward shared prosperity, marked by growing economic and diplomatic engagement.

Ethiopian Ambassador to Republic of Korea, Ambassador Dessie Dalkie met with Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, during the Meet Africa 2025 roundtable, emphasizing a commitment to a vibrant future of collaboration.

The dialogue builds on momentum from Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s historic visit to Vietnam in April 2025, the first by an Ethiopian leader since diplomatic relations began in 1976.

His diplomatic engagement included signing key agreements on trade and education, it was indicated.

This growing partnership was further strengthened by the launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ first direct flights between Addis Ababa and Hanoi in July 2025, operating four times weekly.

The new route is set to enhance trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations and the broader Africa-Southeast Asia corridor, ENA learned.

With strengthened connectivity and high-level exchanges, Ethiopia and Vietnam are poised to deepen economic engagement and build a resilient partnership that promises lasting prosperity for both countries.
