Ethiopia’s Mega Dev’t Projects Play Pivotal Role in Driving Economic Growth, Say African Land Policy Delegates
Addis Ababa, November 14, 2025 (ENA)— Delegates of the Conference on Land Policy in Africa have underscored the vital role of the mega development projects in Ethiopia in driving economic growth through increased investment and job opportunities.
In an exclusive interview with ENA, Arnold Joselyn, a delegate from Cameroon, said the huge development projects such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Gode Oil Refinery, Ogaden Liquefied Natural Gas project, and Urea Fertilizer Factory, would be crucial for stimulating economic growth along with increasing investment and job creation in the country.
The development projects will boost investment and job creation, he noted, stressing that the Ethiopian government could elevate the nation’s development further if it implements sound mechanisms to ensure that citizens benefit from these development initiatives.
Moreover, he underlined that Ethiopia's development projects are not only key to economic progress but also vital for fostering community engagement and collaboration in the region at large.
Praising the ongoing development initiatives of the nation across various sectors, Joselyn noted that other African nations can take a lesson and share Ethiopia’s experience.
"By sharing experiences and insights, we can inspire one another and create opportunities for diverse investments that will ultimately lead to job creation."
On his part, Innocent Antoine Houedji, a delegate from Benin and Youth Initiative for Land in Africa Executive Director, stressed the socio-economic benefits of the developmental projects in job creation by providing employment opportunities and mitigating issues such as youth migration and conflict.
Elaborating on the broader economic advantages for local communities, he stated that communities around these projects and the youth can benefit economically and contribute to economic growth and enhance the sustainable development of the nation if absorbed into the workforce.
Moreover, he said the projects would enable young people to engage in and ensure knowledge transfer while the mega development projects can position Ethiopia as an exemplar of sustainable development in Africa.
