Ethiopia’s Parliament, House of Federation to Convene Joint Session on Monday

Addis Ababa, October 5, 2025 (ENA)—The joint session marking the fifth year of the House of Peoples’ Representatives and the House of Federation will officially open tomorrow.

In accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the opening of the two Houses takes place on the last Monday of the first month of the Ethiopian calendar year.

President Taye Atske Selassie is expected to address the joint session, outlining the government’s major policy directions and priorities for the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year across various sectors.

The opening ceremony will be attended by ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, religious leaders, prominent national figures, and other invited guests.
