PM Abiy Extends Best Wishes to Ethiopians on Meskel-Demera Holiday

Addis Ababa, September 26, 2025 (ENA) --  Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended messages to Christian faithful on the celebration of Demera and Meskel, commemorating the Founding of the True Cross.

“Meskel Demera reminds us that truth can never be buried. When the cross was laid to rest on a mountain, many believed it would never rise again. Some even lost hope. Those who buried it rejoiced, convinced that they had triumphed, and the buried cross seemed destined to fade into history,” PM Abiy pointed out.  

“Truth cannot be buried. When the time comes, it rises, clears away the dust, and shines forth like a rock. It does not vanish like falsehood; it endures,” the prime minister underscored.

According to the premier, Ethiopia’s truth doesn’t differ from this fact. Just as the crowing of roosters cannot prevent the sunrise, nor can the fluttering wings of bats delay it, Ethiopia’s light will inevitably shine.
