Ethiopian Airlines Prioritizes Human Resource Dev’t to Sustain Global Reputation

Addis Ababa, September 20, 2025 (ENA) -- The Ethiopian Airlines Group Board Chairman, Lt. Gen. Yilma Merdasa, emphasized that human resource development is one of the critical pillars to ascertain Ethiopian Airlines' global reputation.
Ethiopian Aviation University graduates over a thousand aviation professionals today in a colorful event in the presence of Ethiopian Airlines Group Board Chairman Let. Gen. Yilma Merdasa, Group CEO Mesfin Tasew, executives, and graduates families.
The graduates include trainees from the university’s Pilot, Cabin Crew, Aircraft Maintenance, Marshalling & Aerobridge, and various Commercial & Ground Services schools.
In his keynote speech, Lt. Gen. Yilma, who is also Ethiopian Air Force Commander, underscored that the airline is committed to working hard in all spheres to enhance even more its flagship status in the global aviation industry.
He further noted that human resource development remains one of the priorities of the airline.
Besides creating highly qualified and competitive Ethiopian experts, the airline is also giving back to society by providing expertise through training citizens from other foreign countries, he added.
The board chairman further added that while Ethiopia is undergoing reform and transformation, Ethiopian Airlines must accelerate its human resource development activities to be ahead of the game in the aviation sector.
For his part, CEO Mesfin Tasew emphasized that Ethiopian Airlines has been gaining international recognition for its successful operation in all dimensions.
According to the Mesfin, the airline would keep widening its leadership position in aviation in Africa by training thousands of qualified professionals every year.
Encouraging the graduates to continually build up new skills and knowledge to adapt the changing needs of the industry, the CEO urged the graduates to be proud to work for Africa's largest airline and one of the world's greatest carriers.
