COIPA Italia S.p.A Eyes Deeper Investment in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, September 18, 2025 (ENA) -- COIPA Italia S.p.A CEO Vito Favorito has announced that the company is seeking deeper investment engagement in Ethiopia, with a particular focus on railway infrastructure development.
Recently, the Ethiopian Railways Corporation (ERC) and COIPA Italia S.p.A signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to strengthen collaboration on railway infrastructure projects.
In an exclusive interview with ENA, Favorito emphasized that Ethiopia is not only demonstrating strong economic growth but also emerging as a key player in the Horn of Africa. “Of course, this requires further infrastructure development,” he underscored.
He noted that COIPA Italia is committed to exploring opportunities in partnership with Ethiopian Railways Corporation to advance infrastructure projects, support market growth, and contribute to the government’s ambitious development programs.
According to Favorito, the agreement paves the way for collaboration in structuring complex steel and infrastructure projects by drawing on Italian expertise.
He highlighted that the partnership would leverage Italy’s experience, capabilities, and top-ranking marketplace in the relevant industries.
“Our partnership is not just about commercial opportunities; it is about collaboration and bringing the best expertise from our country,” he said.
The agreement also covers a wide range of initiatives aligned with Ethiopia’s massive development agenda, particularly in strengthening the railway system, logistics, and other industries.
Citing Italian companies’ engagement in the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Favorito stressed that COIPA Italia intends to replicate that level of commitment in other major projects.
He also congratulated Ethiopia on the successful completion of GERD, describing it as a further demonstration of the strong partnership between Italian industries, the Italian government, and Ethiopia.
