Abiy recalled that Addis Ababa is a place where the call for Adwa was answered and African unity took root.
In this regard, the Prime Minister reminded the truth, saying, “From here the world is reminded of the truth too often forgotten—the spirit of our nation always rises!”
Against this ground, Abiy underscored that history was made and victory won not by force but by courage, not by empire but by unity.
Abiy further explained the triumph did not belong to Ethiopia alone, it became a symbol of resistance, pride, and shared aspiration across continents and generations.
”Today, we are here to build upon that legacy,” the prime minister stressed.
PM Abiy articulated a vision for a deliberate and lasting partnership.
"We must speak as one," he urged, stressing the importance of unified voices in addressing global challenges.”
Noting the unique strengths of both regions, PM Abiy remarked, "Africa brings scale, natural wealth, and boundless potential, while the Caribbean offers strategic diplomacy and resilient communities."
Together, he stressed these strengths would be multiplied for greater impact.
The Prime Minister reiterated the concept of ‘Medemer,’ which means ’synergy," a term he coined to leverage the power of unity in action.
He emphasized that synergy drives national progress through connection, culture, innovation, knowledge, and unity.
He cited various initiatives, such as Ethiopia's Green Legacy initiative, which has successfully planted over 48 billion seedlings, and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, a testament to what can be achieved through ”Medemer’ collective effort.
The Prime Minister underlined the GERD as "proof of our strengths when we unite."
He underscored that the mega-dam, funded by the Ethiopian people and built through their labor and sacrifice, is not just a national achievement but a testament to collective effort for all of Africa.
“When Ethiopia speaks with one voice on climate, on debt or trade, we deliver the grand Ethiopian Renaissance. GERD is proof of our strengths when we unite, born in the heart of millions, funded by our own people, built through their labor and sacrifice, it is a testament to shared vision, bold determination, and collective effort, a historic achievement for Ethiopia and for Africa,” Prime Minister Abiy emphasized.
