Ethiopia's Success Stems from Unity, Resilience, and Perseverance: Defense Minister Aisha

Addis Ababa, September 6, 2025 (ENA) – Minister of Defense Aisha Mohammed stated that Ethiopia’s remarkable achievements, from the modernization of security institutions to the realization of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), are the direct results of unity, common purpose, resilience, and firm perseverance.

Ethiopia’s calendar year consists of 13 months: twelve months of 30 days each, and a 13th month, Pagumen, which has five or six days in a leap year, serves as a period of reflection and planning for the year ahead.

The first day of Pagumen is commemorated today as 'Resilience Day' under the theme “Firm Foundation for a Resilient Nation,” which is dedicated to honoring individuals who have significantly contributed to Ethiopia’s peace, stability, and growth.

 

Speaking at the event organized today as part of a 'Resilience Day'  at the Adwa Victory Memorial, Minister Aisha emphasized that resilience is “the compass that guides the nation, the strength of its unity, and the flame that lights its path.”

She underscored that Resilience Day is not merely about celebrating past victories but also about embracing future hopes and aspirations.

Furthermore, the minister stressed the importance of remembering and honoring the courage, sacrifice, and perseverance of heroes whose efforts paved the way for Ethiopia’s current successes.

 

“Today is a day when we pledge to transform challenges into opportunities and take Ethiopia to new heights of prosperity, honor, and sustainability,” she added.

Aisha also called on citizens to draw inspiration from the spirit of their forefathers, to stand together with renewed hope and unity, and to work with determination toward building a future of sustainable prosperity.

She noted that Ethiopia has now entered a new chapter in its journey toward progress and greatness.

In conclusion, the minister urged all Ethiopians to strengthen their shared vision so that the nation may continue to shine with resilience, perseverance, strength, honor, and enduring success.
