China, Africa to Strengthen Collaboration for Global South: Ambassador Jiang

Addis Ababa, September 5, 2025 (ENA) –Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union (AU), Ambassador Jiang Feng emphasized that the partnership between Africa and China reflect a shared vision for a more equitable global governance system.

In an exclusive interview with the Ethiopian News Agency, Ambassador Jiang Feng underscored China’s unwavering commitment to deepening cooperation with Africa and safeguarding the interests of the Global South.

Ambassador Jiang highlighted that China and Africa continue to collaborate on key regional and global issues, including United Nations reform, climate change, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and counter-terrorism efforts.

He emphasized that this partnership reflects a shared vision for a more equitable global governance system.

The Ambassador praised the African Union and sub-regional organizations for their autonomous peacekeeping operations and efforts to “silence the guns” across the continent.

He reiterated China’s support for the principle of “African solutions to African problems”, affirming China’s respect for Africa’s sovereignty and leadership in maintaining regional stability.

Ambassador Jiang stressed the critical link between peace and development, quoting President Xi Jinping: “Security underpins development, and development in turn ensures security.”

He called on the international community to pay serious attention to Africa’s development challenges, noting that global peace and prosperity depend on inclusive growth.

“The common aspiration of people around the world is peace rather than war, and development rather than poverty,” he added.

Ambassador Jiang Feng, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, reaffirmed China's unwavering commitment to its partnership with Africa, emphasizing that regardless of changes in the international landscape, China will remain a true and reliable friend to the continent.

He stated that China will continue to actively support Africa’s journey toward modernization, industrialization, and sustainable development, recognizing these pillars as essential for long-term prosperity and regional stability.

Furthermore, Ambassador Jiang underscored China’s steadfast dedication to working hand-in-hand with African nations to uphold the collective interests of the Global South.

He emphasized the importance of inclusive global governance, where the voices and priorities of developing nations are respected and represented.
