Addis Ababa, September 2, 2025 (ENA) -- Ethiopia is striving hard to thrive in the international marketplace by producing high-quality goods, according to Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration.
For the realization of this, the government has established the Tiret Village (Quality Village) at the cost of 8 billion Birr in Addis Ababa.
The institutions housed within the village include the Ethiopian Standards Institute, Ethiopian Metrology Institute, Ethiopian Accreditation Service, Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise, and Ethiopian Technology Authority, it was learned.
Speaking at the "Buy Ethiopian'' panel organized in the village today, Kassahun Gofe, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, said the government is giving due attention to improving manufactured goods.
The minister urged stakeholders to collaborate in improving the quality of products.
Moreover, Kassahun stressed the need for concerted efforts of all pertinent bodies towards the effort of ensuring the quality of products, as quality cannot be ensured with the sole effort of a single institute.
He further stated that standards for products, laboratory testing, certifying and conducting supervisions on the manufactured products are being intensified.
The panelists, on their part said maintaining quality needs to be across all sectors and services.
Therefore, industries, universities, and governmental institutions need to work together to solve the problems, they noted.
