PM Abiy Reviews Solar Cells Plant in Hawassa Industry Park

Addis Ababa, August 15, 2025--Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has visited solar cells facility at the Hawassa Industrial Park.

Prime Minister Abiy wrote on his social media post: "The facility boasts impressive quality, large-scale capacity, and a highly automated system. This operation is expected to contribute a significant share to manufacturing exports."

 

The Premier recalled “Following our visit to the Vietnam Toyo Solar site and our discussion with the President, who had promised they would begin producing solar panels, we are pleased to see that they are now producing solar cells at their plant within the Hawassa Industry Park.”

 

While two additional facilities are still under construction, today we reviewed the one that has already become operational, Abiy said, adding this aligns strongly with our investment strategy, which focuses on value-added projects that meet our set targets and policies, representing truly game-changing investments.
