Ethiopia Gazettes Provisional Tariff Concessions, Advancing AfCFTA Implementation

Addis Ababa, August 15, 2025 (ENA) -- Ethiopia has officially gazetted its Provisional Schedule of Tariff Concessions (PSTCs), marking a significant step toward the full implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement.

The gazetting process serves as an official government announcement, enhancing transparency and ensuring that businesses, organizations, and citizens are informed about new trade regulations coming into force, , according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement on social media, the AfCFTA Secretariat emphasized that this move provides traders with clarity and legal certainty, confirming that Ethiopia will grant preferential tariff treatment to eligible goods in line with its commitments under the AfCFTA framework.

By formalizing its PSTCs, Ethiopia joins other member states in operationalizing AfCFTA provisions aimed at boosting intra-African trade, reducing tariff barriers, and fostering economic integration across the continent.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is a flagship project of Agenda 2063, Africa's development framework.

The initiative was adopted during the 18th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in January 2012.
