Urban-Rural Corridor Projects Boost Citizens' Livelihoods: DPM Temesgen Tiruneh

Addis Ababa, August 3, 2025 (ENA) -- Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh stated that ongoing urban and rural corridor development projects are creating a conducive environment aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

He made these remarks during the inauguration of the newly completed corridor stretching from Entoto to Arat Kilo Plaza in Addis Ababa.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and members of the Prosperity Party Council.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the corridor development projects are not only beautifying Ethiopian cities but also improving residents' living and working conditions.


 

He highlighted developments in areas like Shiro Meda, Kasanchis, and Piazza in Addis Ababa as key examples of the initiative's success.

DPM Temesgen credited these achievements to the leadership and close supervision of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, adding that similar projects are also being carried out in regional cities.

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen stated that the ruling Prosperity Party (PP) is committed to implementing inclusive, people-centered urban development projects.

He cited the Addis Ababa corridor as a notable example, which he said has significantly eased challenges for both pedestrians and drivers, enabling residents to carry out their daily activities more efficiently.


 

Ahead of the inauguration, members of the PP Council also toured the newly completed Entoto - Arat Kilo corridor.

The project features pedestrian and bicycle lanes, street lighting, modern shops,  children's playgrounds, a football field, and various public service facilities.

The Deputy Prime Minister also mentioned that rural-focused corridor projects are underway, ensuring that communities across Ethiopia benefit from improved infrastructure and services.
