4 Kilo-Entoto Corridor Includes Range of Public Amenities That Enhance Aesthetic Appeal of Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, August 3, 2025 (ENA) -- Addis Ababa Mayor, Adanech Abiebie, announced today that the 4 Kilo - Entoto corridor projects, built as part of the second phase of corridor development in Addis Ababa, have been inaugurated and opened for service today.
This corridor spans an area of 314 hectares and includes several important public institutions that play a vital role in the ongoing efforts of nation-building, the Mayor said.
These institutions comprise the House of Peoples Representatives, the esteemed Addis Ababa University, the country's first modern hospital, Yekatit 12 Hospital, the inaugural girls' boarding school, the National Museum, and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
The road width, which was originally 32 meters before the corridor development, has been expanded to 42 meters, she noted.
Additionally, a 3-meter bicycle lane has been constructed, along with 11 kilometers of pedestrian pathways, and 11 designated loading and unloading areas for taxis and buses.
The project encompasses 20 green spaces and 2 plazas, along with 10 children's playgrounds, 7 sports facilities, and 9 toilets, according to the Mayor.
It also features 11.4 kilometers of pedestrian walkways that vary in width from 5 to 13 meters, as well as 2 terminals (one of which is a modern mall) developed through a public-private partnership. Additionally, there are 7 parking lots and 417 smart poles.
Adanech further stated that redeveloping, renovating, and beautifying this corridor not only demonstrates our appreciation for the history of the nation and its people, but also generates both temporary and permanent employment opportunities for over 15,000 citizens.
