Green Legacy Exemplary for Environmental Sustainability, Dev’t: PP Vice President Adem Farah

Addis Ababa, July 31, 2025 (ENA) -- Adem Farah, Vice President of the Prosperity Party (PP) and Head of the Coordination Center for Democracy Building, with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, has praised Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative as a model program advancing both environmental sustainability and national development.

Adem Farah, joined by Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, took part in the nationwide effort to plant seedlings in Jigjiga City, Somali Region as part of the ambitious goal of planting 700 million seedlings in just one day.

Under the theme “Revival Through Planting,” the 2025 Green Legacy campaign aims to plant an ambitious 7.5 billion seedlings across the country.

A key milestone this year is the successful planting of 700 million seedlings in a single day, a record-breaking achievement that underscores Ethiopia’s capacity for large-scale, coordinated environmental action.

Adem Farah, joined by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, took part in the nationwide effort by planting seedlings in Jigjiga City, Somali Region.

He emphasized the broad, transformative impact of the initiative, citing its contributions to climate change mitigation, job creation, food security, and agricultural productivity.

He also noted the growing public engagement, with citizens actively participating in planting efforts across various regions, including Beneki.

“The GLI is not only a national mission, it is a global model worth emulating,” he said, noting its significance in the international fight against climate change.

 Adem called on all Ethiopians and institutions to play their part in the campaign.
