UAE Desirous to Further Strengthen its Partnership with Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, July 29, 2025 (ENA) -- The Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Amna Aldahak, remarked that Ethiopia and the UAE maintain excellent strategic relationships across numerous sectors.
This remark was made following a discussion with Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente, during the United Nations Food System Summit (UNFSS+4) taking place in Addis Ababa.
The discussion concentrated on collaborative opportunities within the agriculture sector, where both nations have established strong ties, Minister Amna Aldahak noted.
She expressed a desire to advance these relations further, with the support of various ministries from both Ethiopia and the UAE, not only for the benefit of both nations but also for the region and the world at large.
The UAE Minister emphasized the potential to enhance cooperation in areas such as agricultural investment, packaging, value addition, and public-private partnerships, with the goal of ensuring sustainable development and attracting additional investors to Ethiopia.
In response, Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente, highlighted that the discussions held today are crucial for strengthening the existing strategic relations between the two countries.
He noted that Ethiopia exports a variety of agricultural products, including coffee, livestock, and dairy products, to the UAE, and mentioned that both sides engaged in productive discussions to further develop this trade relationship.
The dialogue also addressed other trade and investment matters, aiming to create a favorable environment for investors from both countries to engage in regular exchanges.
Girma announced that Ethiopia is in talks with the Kelifa Foundation to enhance date production in the country, indicating that preparations are underway to host the Dates Conference next month for the first time.
He declared that Ethiopia has established the necessary conditions to attract UAE investors in the agricultural sector.
Minister Girma also highlighted the strategic importance of agriculture for Ethiopia’s food security, the Green Legacy initiative—which has seen billions of trees planted—and the country’s growing exports of coffee and meat to the Middle East.
