Prime Minister Abiy Welcomes His Italian Counterpart PM Giorgia Meloni

Addis Ababa, July 27, 2025 (ENA)— Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has welcomed his Italy’s counterpart, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, at Bole International Airport today.

“It is my pleasure to welcome to Ethiopia Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister and President of the Council of Ministers of Italy,” Prime Minister Abiy shared on X.

The Premier added that our two nations stand together over the next three days, as partners in co-hosting the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit.

Ethiopia is hosting, along with co-host Italy, the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) from 27 to 29 July 2025, with a dedicated Action Day taking place on 27 July 2025 at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) headquarters in Addis Ababa.

This landmark event brings together representatives of UN Member States, the UN system, and international, regional, and national governmental and non-governmental organizations, policymakers, scientists, the private sector, food producers, civil society, and other stakeholders to advance inclusive, resilient, and sustainable food systems for all, it was indicated.
