Turkish Investors Eye Ethiopia’s Hawassa Special Economic Zone

Addis Ababa, July 25, 2025 (ENA)— Turkish firms are exploring entry into the Hawassa Special Economic Zone, signaling growing economic ties and investment confidence in Ethiopia’s industrial sphere.

The interest was conveyed during a meeting with Fiseha Yitagesu, CEO of the Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation.

The CEO affirmed that the Corporation is committed to providing the necessary support and oversight to facilitate the companies’ commencement of operations within the special economic zones and industrial parks under its management.

This includes the provision of fully serviced industrial sheds, land, and a range of internationally competitive incentives, all supported by robust infrastructure.

Iris Giyim, Pinerbaşıt, and Asoy Export—renowned Turkish firms in the textile and apparel industry—are set to carry out field visits to the Hawassa Special Economic Zone as part of their efforts to initiate operations based on their expertise in the Turkish market.

Turkish investment in Ethiopia is significantly large, injecting nearly 2.5 billion USD spanning from textiles, agribusiness to digital infrastructure, according to Ethiopian Investment Commission.
