USA Committed to Further Strengthen its Commercial Diplomacy with Africa

Addis Ababa, June 24, 2025 (ENA) – United States has expressed its readiness to strengthen its commercial diplomacy with Africa.

According to a senior official in the Bureau of African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Troy Fitrell, USA is resolute in its decision to strengthen its commercial diplomacy with Africa.

In his keynote address at the ongoing USA -Africa Summit in Luanda, the capital city of Angola, Ambassador Troy highlighted the USA’s interest in shifting its foreign policy toward business deals under the new Trump administration.

As a result, the U.S. government has placed a new emphasis on commercial diplomacy and directed its embassies on the continent to facilitate business linkage accordingly, he noted.

He underscored that embassies are working to realize this goal through various initiatives, such as changing incentive.


 

Additionally, he mentioned that, in consultation with various stakeholders on both sides, there has been an attempt to reform the market according to need, demand, and evolving realities.

Furthermore, the ambassador emphasized that significant investment partnership in infrastructure, including digital infrastructure, is crucial for Africa's effective participation in the modern economy.

Commenting on the emphasis placed on strengthening trade, he emphasized, "On all of our official travels to Africa, we will carry business leaders with us everywhere we go because this is a priority."


 

He claimed that the American way of doing business is incredibly useful for Africa, reasoning that American businesses are focused on the latest technology and innovations and workforces that provide value over a life cycle.

Therefore, the Ambassador called on African business stakeholders and governments to work together, mentioning that the USA and Africa possess a common economic trajectory and goals.
