USA-Africa Private Sector Collaboration Game Changer: AUC Chairperson

Addis Ababa, June 24, 2025 (ENA) – At the USA-Africa Summit 2025 in Luanda, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said the AU views U.S.-Africa private sector collaboration as a game changer in the quest for shared prosperity.

African presidents, heads of state, ministers, and senior USA and African government officials and business leaders are attending the summit in Luanda, Angola.

A high-level Ethiopian delegation led by President Taye Atske Selassie is also in Luanda to participate at the summit.

In his remark at the summit, AUC Chairperson reaffirmed Africa’s commitment to a bold and equal partnership with the United States.

 

He pushed for equal types of partnerships that strayed from the previous aid model and embraced a business approach, remarking, "We're not seeking aid, but rather building co-created solutions."

Ali Youssouf noted that with 1.3 billion people, abundant resources, and a surge in innovation, Africa is poised for transformative growth.

From agribusiness in West Africa to fintech in East Africa, the AU is supporting private sector-led development across all regions.

The Chairperson also underscored that strategic sectors such as manufacturing, digital, energy, & agro-industry, are open for U.S. investment.
