Ethiopia, Angola Express commitment to Strengthen Ties, Advance African Cause

Addis Ababa, June 23, 2025 (ENA) -- Ethiopia and Angola reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties and to enhancing African leadership on the global stage.

The two leaders discussed areas in which they could further expand and strengthen their bilateral and multilateral relations, said Zerihun Abebe, director general of African Affairs at the Ministry of Ethiopian Foreign Affairs.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening ties through institutional structures and agreed to invigorate the previously established joint ministerial committee immediately, he elaborated.
Ambassador Zerihun underscored that the two sides agreed to direct their ministers to swiftly operationalize the committee.
According to Ambassador Zerihun, they also discussed ways to improve Africa’s role on the international stage, particularly with regard to UN Security Council reform.
They affirmed commitment to working together to advance Africa's role in finding lasting solutions to current global issues.
Finally, President Taye expressed his appreciation to the Angolan government for its warm welcome of the Ethiopian delegation, ENA learned.
