PM Abiy Reiterates Government’s Candidness to Working with Competing Political Parties

Addis Ababa, June 20, 2025 (ENA) -- Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has reiterated that the government is always open to working with competing political parties in Ethiopia.

The premier made the remark in his discussions held with representatives of competing political parties from all over Ethiopia.

On the occasion, Abiy stated that the discussion with political parties is part of the reform being carried out on the political sphere of the country.

He noted that it is not appropriate to think that there is a flawless political environment in the world, emphasizing that both competition and cooperation exist within the political sphere.

Prime Minister Abiy mentioned that the ruling Prosperity Party is striving to foster healthy competition and collaboration with competing parties in Ethiopia.

The Prosperity Party is upholding a balance between competition and cooperation in its interactions with competing political parties, he added.

Abiy said that 273 representatives of competing parties are working in the government at various leadership levels, which clearly shows the goodwill for cooperation.

He also indicated that the government is working to build a better Ethiopia by increasing the inclusiveness of competing parties.

The Prime Minister said that the government is open to working with all parties and urged the parties to come together and focus on generating strong ideas.
