COMFWB Conference Participants Emphasize Vast Potential of Ethiopia’s Tourism

Addis Ababa, May 31, 2025 (ENA)— Some participants of the COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Trade Fair and Business Conference held in Addis Ababa early this month have stressed the vast potential of Ethiopia as a prime destination for tourism.

The members visited various development projects and historical sites in Addis Ababa, including the renovated National Palace Museum, Adwa Victory Memorial Museum, and Entoto Park.

 Libyan COMFWB Chapter Chairperson Ibtisam Hussein Ben Amer expressed her admiration for the preserved cultural and historical artifacts at the National Palace and the Adwa Memorial Museum.

 

The Ethiopian people have shown great civility in maintaining the palace and its contents that are integral to the country’s history.

 The Adwa Memorial Museum also captivates with its portrayal our shared struggles against colonialist invasion, she added.

 The chairperson praised Ethiopia’s hospitality and the beauty of its landscapes, noting that the warmth of the Ethiopian people is truly admirable and their kindness towards visitors a significant attraction for tourism.

Moreover, the Libyan emphasized the immense potential of Ethiopia to become tourism and conference destination, indicating that Addis Ababa is ideally situated for hosting conferences and easily accessible via Ethiopian Airlines.

 “The visit was really nice; they (Ethiopians) took a good care of us. They are very hospitable, and the city itself hospitable. I love the way the Ethiopian people treat foreigners. I think it is something to attract tourism.”

On her part, Uganda's COMFWB board member, Aero Lillian Olok pointed out the unique cultural offerings and strategic significance of Ethiopia in Africa.

 

Emphasizing Ethiopia’s potential for tourism and as a hub for regional and international conferences, Olok highlighted the rich and diverse culture of the nation, particularly its role as a host of the African Union, which enhances its appeal as a destination.

“The potential is huge; one, Ethiopia has rich and diverse culture. As a host to the African Union, among others, helps the nation to become a destination of tourism and conferences.”
