Ethiopia’s Deputy PM Says Africa at Pivotal Moment to Translate Its Vast Dev’t Potential into Measurable Progress

Addis Ababa, May 20, 2025 (ENA)— Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia Temesgen Tiruneh underscored we are at a pivotal moment—one where Africa is beginning to translate its vast development potential into real and measurable progress.
Ethiopia’s high-level delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister is participating in the second Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security, Fight Against Hunger and Rural Development.
The African continent is strengthening sustainable agricultural practices, embracing technological innovation, and expanding market access for farmers, Temesgen said in a social media post.
“The future is taking root in our fields. We’ve arrived in Brazil to take part in the Second Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security, Combating Hunger, and Rural Development—a gathering of partners committed to building a more food-secure and resilient world,” he said.
The Deputy PM further pointed out that beyond the summit, the Ethiopian delegation led by himself held meaningful bilateral talks with Brazil’s Vice President and Minister of Industry and Development, Geraldo Alckmin.
The Vice President commended Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth and the revival of its domestic production, it was learned
He also underscored Brazil’s strong interest in deepening collaboration—especially in the aviation sector, where Ethiopia continues to lead.
Ethiopia and Brazil already share a cooperative framework in agriculture, forest management, and the utilization of acidic soils, the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
“In our discussion, we explored new opportunities for strategic partnership, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, trade, and investment,” he said.
Together with Vice President Alckmin, we’ve charted a course—one that builds on our shared past and looks boldly toward the future, the DPM noted.
He added through multilateral collaboration and joint action, Ethiopia and Brazil are determined to drive the kind of progress that brings lasting change to their people.
